Digital Arts Programme

Multimedia-Digital Arts Programme

MCAC’s ‘tagline’ of ‘Altering Perceptions’ fits especially well in the multimedia programme. We want to foster a change in attitudes and beliefs on the definitions of art, while engaging the viewers’ curiosity in digital and multimedia programming.

The objective is to reach a wider audience and, in the process, make new media technologies more accessible. As people become familiar with computers, DVD, video and the web, they become more comfortable with the idea of digital or multimedia art.

The incredible growth and development of this relatively new art form mirrors the advancement of technology in new generations. This has resulted in the complete legitimising of new media as an art form. We offer access and assist artists on a professional basis first and foremost with creation, secondly with promotion, communication and presentation.

MCAC’s Multimedia Programme

The Multimedia programmes are based on creation, presentation, training, education and outreach projects. The aim is to make MCAC a space in which artists can not only create high-level digital/multimedia art, but also present it in the gallery space; to train a new generation about the limitless possibilities of new technology and art; and to offer support and services to artists and the local community to help artists bridge the gap between producing work and making a living. to artists and the local community to help artists bridge the gap between producing work and making a living.
